Ok we got it, it’s cold. Real cold here in the UK- but fear not babes of the MINKPINK, Evil Twin and Bitchin’ worlds, we’ve picked up some serious warm-spiration from the net (care of our favourite bloggers) to keep you looking as cool as the chill outside. From ladies styling the infamous ‘Farshion’ coat, or rocking some of summers fave dresses- they’ve worked them as the ultimate transseasonal pieces, and we think we’re a little bit in love.
There aren’t many bloggers you can rock a lookbook video like this chick, and when we spotted our fave Zoe from The London Lipgloss rocking Evil Twin- we couldn’t help but share it! Not only does it look like a cut from a bad ass music video, but her style is seriously on point and she’s nailed the acid wash denim look to a tee- you go girl!
So- you know we like to treat you guys good here at Out + About, and to ease the fright of Halloween and chill of going in to November (it could properly be coat weather now…) we’ve teamed up with the awesome people at Urban Outfitters and Evil Twin to offer you a pretty bad ass evening in London- including HOT tickets to see LA’s seriously amazing BANKS at her debut London gig, an overnight stay in a hip East London hotel- oh, and £250 to spend in our Urban Outfitters Spitalfields store- not bad huh? Plus, to help inspire you we’ve teamed up with some pretty babin’ bloggers to style Evil Twin’s most fearsome AW range- amazing, we know.
To enter all you need to do is head over here (takes seconds, trust us) and be available on the 7th/8th November for some serious good time fun. Competition ends at midnight on the 4th November- go go go!
Here at Out + About, we are all for dressing up at Halloween- however one of the things we don’t get hyped about is trawling eBay for the gear to style up. So, this year we’ve done something a little different. We’ve trawled through a couple of our fave online retailers, browsed only THE hottest new collections from our very own MINKPINK, Evil Twin, Bitching and Junkfood and Somedays Lovin- to bring you Halloween inspired pieces, that guess what- can be worn again (yup, and you won’t look like a ghoul second time round either). All you need is the addition of a broomstick, cat ears or a little bit of face paint- and well, bobs your uncle. Who’d have thunk it?
We’ve got some pretty big admirers here at Out + About, and it’s safe to say we’re pretty in love with them and their style too. On top of that, it seems that this week everyone has been getting their winter wardrobes on, and we’ve seen some seriously rad looking MINKPINK , Somedays Lovin and Evil Twin at that. Ever wondered how to style that faux fur coat? Want to know how to work a novelty knit? Look no further guys and gals these ladies have got it sorted…

We’ve all thought it. ‘Who on EARTH wins these competitions we see online, on TV (Daybreak- we’re looking at you) and in magazines!?’ There’s never any follow up- and we can totally vouch for feeling completely confused as to why we didn’t win- when it seems no one won at all. But low and behold- people DO. Especially the ones with Urban Outfitters (read: the ones with seriously bad ass prizes) so when we caught up with the winner of our MINKPINK shopping spree comp- we thought we’d take you along with us- Holly was a bit of a babe after all.
Working with MINKPINK, Evil Twin and Somedays Lovin it should come as no surprise to you that we’re pretty massive fans of the brands, and the brains behind them. From the creative minded designers, social busy bees, stylists to the models- the thought behind every campaign and look is always totally bad ass and equally cool. Cue Kaycie Smith- ex art director for the brands, and brains behind some of the most awesome campaign images we’ve seen. We caught up with the lady to chat all things Aussie, getting inspired and the perfect playlist…
You’ve worked with some incredibly exciting Aussie brands from MINKPINK to Somedays Lovin- what do you love about them?
I love the attitude behind them, i love how relatable they are as brands. As a creative I love MINKPINK for its colour, there’s something so inspiring and fun about working with such intense colours! I love Evil Twin for that hint of weirdness it always inspires something a little left of centre, and for me that’s exciting! Somedays is just a damn cool brand – the team is cool – the clothes are cool – the essence is cool, it just oozes that laid back Aussie style.
What has been your favourite campaign to work on? I bet there’s been some incredible ones!
I think I would have to say the Somedays “Two That Strayed” campaign. We trekked it out to this awesome, in-the-middle-of-nowhere, old junkyard out the back of a typically Australian country pub which just had the most perfect vibe. We had a super talented team from the ever amazing Ben Sullivan behind the lens, David Childs on film and obviously the bangin’ hot Amelia and Dave to lust over. It was just one of those days that everything seemed so smooth (and trust me…. that’s definitely not always the case)! Oh and did I mention the clothes were RAD!
Where do you get your inspiration from?
EVERYWHERE! Sometimes even the most mundane things inspire me… my mind wonders, A LOT! Sometimes all it takes is the tiniest creative spark and bam you’re off on a crazy little journey. At the moment I’m travelling around Australia in a beat up old camper van, so I’ve been really lucky to be exposed to some pretty amazing things – from scenery to stories! Travel is definitely something that inspires me!
What do you love most about Aussie style?
I love that its so diverse and so easy – I find it hard to define Aussie style, I don’t think there’s that need to conform to a universal trend. Australia is pumping out some rad designers all with their own little quirks.
Can you tell us a bit about your personal style?
Haha! wow so varied! It really depends on how I feel when I roll out of bed in the morning. For sure – very chilled, probably a bit messy. I’m a denim girl. A good pair of denim cut-offs, a baggy black tee, loads of jewellery and bare feet!
What’s on your wishlist for AW? Anything you’ve spotted from MINKPINK/Evil Twin/Somedays Lovin?
Somedays Campfire Overalls! Already in my wardrobe! Already in love!
Finally- we’re building up a hot new playlist- which 5 songs or artists should be definitely have on it?
Ahhhh SO HARD! Um ok – gotta have a little bit of Jimi (Hendrix), Supertramp, some Toro Y Moi, Whitest Boy Alive, and something by The Black Seeds. Ask me tomorrow and I will no doubt tell you something completely different.
With the Autumn rolling in (or not, we still don’t get this weather) we are LOVING seeing how our favourite bloggers, and babe presenter Caroline Flack are styling their MINKPINK and Bitching & Junkfood pieces in a trans-seasonal way. Whether that means mixing it with hot AW13 trend pieces (tartan and leather, we’re looking at you) or rockin’ it solo, we’re seriously taken with their styling skills…
Caroline Flack in NEW MINKPINK coming soon!
With fashion week around the corner, it’s been a busy ol’ week here at Out + About- but hey, there’s always time to read a few of our favourite blogs, and even better when they’re rockin’ some of the best brands in town (biased? Us? I think not) We always get a little bit excited when we spot some bad-ass babes styling up our faves- and these are just some of our picks from this week (including a certain Cara D and punk nanna). Let us know if you’ve blogged about us- we’d love to see (tweet us @outandaboutblog)!
